We Cook Plants

I’m super excited to say that I am now a published recipe contributor along with many of the other incredible chefs and food activists who feature in the just released ‘We Cook Plants’ cookbook. October saw the launch party where I was demonstrating some of my recipes.

We Cook Plants is the debut cookbook of Made in Hackney (MIH), the plant-based community cooking school and charity that I am proud to have volunteered and worked for since 2018. Written by the incredible MIH founder @bentley_sarah, the book features 100 global plant-based recipes and sustainable eating tips, but also discussions on issues such as land justice, decolonising the food system, and why plant-based diets have so much to offer people and planetary health. And if that wasn’t enough it also includes contributions from MIH’s celebrity supporters including @doctors_kitchen @we_are_food @sami_tamimi @sandorkraut @andioliver

My featured recipes include:

Banana peel carnitas
Carrot top chimichurri
Hedgerow BBQ sauce
Nettle, lemon and elderflower cake

The proceeds from the cookbook go to Made In Hackney to support the charity’s mission to provide free plant-based cooking classes and emergency food support to the community. See the MIH website for links to where to order from along with more info about their incredible work.
